Stylist Corner

" I am very interested in purchasing Indian hair but I am worried about coloring it to match my color. I understand that Indian hair ranges in color because it is unprocessed but I just don't want to risk damaging it."

-Theresa, New York

The main difference between store quality hair and virgin hair is that virgin hair has never been processed. This means you can process it to match the color or texture of YOUR choice!

This is great news because working with virgin Indian hair is like working with a blank canvas. First I recommend:

Go to a professional experienced hair stylist (colorist if your salon has one.) They should understand how to process color properly so that your hair extensions will not get damaged.

Understand the difference between lifting color and depositing color. If the hair is lighter than you would like, a stylist can always deposit color to make it darker which is very simple and easy. If the hair is darker than you would like, you will have to lift or lighten the color (which means removing the pigment for the hair strands). This process must be handled with care so that the hair doesn't get over processed.

Remember, working with virgin Indian hair will allow you to customize your hair extensions! With a professional, you should feel free to color the hair without the fear of damaging it!
